Electronic Sources

Page history last edited by dtbolle 2 years, 1 month ago

**When citing electronic sources MLA does not require you to put the URL or web address into your citation.  However, teachers at Powers are requiring you to write down the URL of any online source you use!

Entire Website

Editor, Author or Compiler Name (if found on website).  Name of Website.   Version Number.  Name of

Institution/Organization affiliated with the site (sponsor or publisher), Date of Resource Creation (if

posted). Medium of Publication.  Date of Access.  <URL>

Example:

Perseus Project Classics Department.  The Ancient Olympics.  Tufts University, 13 August 2004.  Online.  10

          November 2009.  <http://www.perseus.tufts.edu>

**Helpful Tip for Citing a Website:

Not all websites will include all the information listed for the citation, so if there is no author name or version number, etc. just skip that part and go on to the next item.  In the example there was no version number given on the website so that part was skipped.

Online Databases

Author or Editor Name (if available).  "Title of Article."  Title of Website, Project, Book, etc.  Dates, Version

Number, Volume, Issue.  Publisher Name.  Date Accessed.  <URL>

Example:

OLYMPIC GAMES. "Young Students Learning Library." Newfield Publications. 1996. eLibrary. ProQuest LLC.

          10 Nov 2009. <http://elibrary.bigchalk.com>.
